Local council shuts down the local abattoir after a Q Fever outbreak

Dont let Teys Australia Beenleigh turn Logan into the next Waikerie, SA.

In May 2008 the Loxton Waikerie council shut down the local goat abattoir after a Q Fever outbreak saw  resident die because of the Q Fever disease.

The SA Health Department says it is likely the infection is a result of inhalation of contaminated dust from the abattoir.

The department has been working jointly with the District Council of Loxton Waikerie, the Environmental Protection Authority, Primary Industries & Resources SA, and abbatoir owner, Kerridale International Trading, to institute control measures, most importantly dust control and containment of livestock.

The council is alleging the abattoir was operating in violation of its original development application by processing goats at the site.

This company employees alot of workers , and contributes to the economy of Logan and surrounding areas.

The council should be not allowing residential homes to be built within the business area. This is irresponsible of the council.

And I am not a worker of Teys, nor have i ever been. Just a proud long term Logan resident.
