Shut Down Teys Bros Beenleigh

Since 2008, I have battled with Teys Bros Beenleigh and the Logan City Council, both have treated me with contempt and have treated me with disrespect. Logan City Council misled me and acted in a deceitful manner.

Before I started on any plans, I met with two Logan City Council officers Barry Omundson, Executive Manager Special Projects
Logan City Council and Therese Cole Executive Officer Special Projects Strategy & Outcomes, who advised that the only use for the land was RESIDENTIAL, even though at the time I wanted Industrial.

There was no mention of a Infectious Disease issue.

Before I stated on any plans, I made a appointment to meet with one of the Teys Bros Beenleigh management officer, to introduce myself and ask if there were any special considerations they wish for me to make whilst designing the estate. During this meeting this particular Teys Bros Beenleigh management officer treated me with hostility and contempt, angrily calling all developers liars and cheats and including me in the group. By the end of the meeting I had agreed to include a 100 meter buffer zone along Teys Road, which is what was promised by a previous developer who when completing his development had only included a 10 meter buffer zone.

There was no mention of a Infectious Disease issue.

Over the next 6 months, I would email this Teys Bros Beenleigh management officer every update of plans and dropped off a full set of plans before lodging them.

After my development had been approved with the without notice 500 meter buffer zone, I met with another member of the Teys Bros Beenleigh management officer. In a meeting at Logan City Council chambers, we seemed to get on well and agreed to meet the following week to discuss the matter and hopefully come to a amicable solution, he gave me his phone number to call him.

The following week I called twice, only to get his voice mail, I left two messages, then all of a sudden I received a legal letter asking for me to stop harassing this Teys Bros Beenleigh management officer.

During the court case I offered to settle if they could see their way to reduce the buffer zone from 500 meters to 450 meters, but I got a emphatic NO, I also offered to re apply for Industrial but that offer was also rejected with great thought or consideration.

Now, I’m no expert but all reports on this website were prepared by experts and the reports show that Teys Bros Beenleigh care very little about the surrounding area, to the left is a Arial view picture of Teys Bros Beenleigh from 1983, note that the cattle yards.

Now what do these photos show?

In my opinion, they show that in the last 30 years Teys Bros Beenleigh have invested no money in protecting the surrounding areas from Dust, Odour and Contaminates that carry infectious diseases.

They have invested heavily in the factory but, in my opinion their cattle yards are way behind the times.

Every other abattoir of Teys Bros Beenleigh’s class in South East Queensland have kept up with safe practices and enclosed their cattle yards in massive sheds with air filtration systems with concrete flooring to eradicate Dust, Odour and Contaminates of Infectious Diseases, except for Teys Bros Beenleigh.
