The general response I get from this website is why am I doing this, am I just a disgruntled investor or developer?, is there something sinister behind it?, am I a crackpot? or is there something real and dangerous behind my claims.
Originally it all started out just helping a friend, he had the properties under contact and fell into a financial crunch, so I lent him some funds to keep him going for a while. Just before he paid me back he passed away suddenly with a terrible bout of cancer, he was gone in a matter of months.
So I had two choices, one to lose my funds, or two, to continue with the contracts and hold the land as a investment. I am no developer of residential but like anyone, I did not want to lose any money.
I chose the latter and then my two children purchased two more properties with houses next door and went to live there as their own homes.
When we as a family, decided to put in a Development Application all seemed straight forward, we are not land developers, but with all the development around us, and the many inquiries from Devine and Stockland, we decided to get a approval and see what would come of it.
When, the 500 meter buffer zone was set in the approval, I could not understand it, so I challenged it.
But what really turned me into a Concerned Citizen, was my own Infectious Disease Consultant.
During the court process my team consisted of a Professor Joe McCormack, a expert in infectious desiases from the Mater Private Hospital, in my initial meeting with Professor McCormack, he explained that Q-Fever was a extremely dangerous disease, but, at the same time, he felt that given the 100 meter Buffer Zone that I had designed in my plans, it would not be a issue, in fact, he commented, he would have no problems living next door to Teys Bros Beenleigh, in our lodged design.
But that all changed in November 2010, when the more I understood about Q fever the more I became concerned.

This understanding changed my thinking and turned me into a concerned citizen.
Armed with this knowledge , I offered a compromise of willing to accept a 450 meter buffer zone, a reduction of only 50 meters. This would allow me to develop some of the land, recoup some of my funding and I would then keep the rest of the land for a long term investment and wait for the inevitable relocation of Teys Bros Beenleigh.
It may not have been in my lifetime, but, at least it was a plan.
My offer to Logan City Council and Teys Bros Beenleigh was immediately rejected.
Not wanting to continue the battle and now realising how dangerous the activities of Teys Bros Beenleigh was, I accepted the 500 meter buffer zone and withdrew from the court proceedings.
The activities of Teys Bros Beenleigh represents a Clear and Present Danger and no one seems to care, this is why this website exists.
