shut down Teys Bros Beenleigh

In my opinion you are in danger according to EXPERT Doctors reports.

1. Logan City Council not to allow any NEW development within 500 meters of the Teys Boundary, due to the risk of catching Q- Fever.

1 kilometer radius from Teys

1 kilometer radius from Teys

5 kilometer radius from Teys

5 kilometer radius from Teys

2. I have a letter by Queensland Health Brisbane Southside Public Health Unit warning that living within 1 kilometre of the abattoir places you in “HIGH RISK” of catching Q-Fever and can effect people within a 5 kilometer radius

3. We have  reports allover the internet by doctors and experts in infectious diseases, that state that living within 5 kilometres is a great risk in the threat of catching Q-Fever

18 kilometer radius from Teys

18 kilometer radius from Teys

4. We have another report claiming that Q-Fever can travel up to 18 kilometres from the Teys Bros Beenleigh Site.

Now that’s a large variance in buffer area suggested by each of these expert bodies/specialists and to be fair, not enough study has been done on Q-Fever, even though it is far more dangerous that the Hendra Virus and other disease surrounding animals in commercial situations.

In my opinion, DERM who control industries like Teys Bros Beenleigh Abattoir must, for the sake of the unsuspecting public take action immediately and have Teys shut down until they can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that their operation will not harm the public.

Derm’s Enforcement Guidelines 2010, shows a clear and precise set of actions that should be taken in situations like this. Based on DERM’s letter to me, in regards to my DERM complaint, it is clear that they are aware of Teys Bros Beenleigh NON-compliance with their licence to operate business activities.

In my opinion, It is therefore up to DERM to take Teys Bros Beenleigh to task and shut down their operation until can produce a clean bill of health regarding the public living in the surrounding areas.

In my opinion, it becomes clearer, that at best, if we only rely on the  letter to me personally from the Queensland Health Brisbane Southside Public Health Unit , all the hard working people who have bought land and houses in new residential estates like the Divine “Alberi Park” Development, Stockland’s “Vale” Residential Development and Lend Lease’s “Woodlands” Residential Estate , embarking on a new life have all been placed in harms way by the operation at Teys and should rethink relocating their families into this area.

To the North of Teys, we have Edens landing; a well-established suburb, who have been exposed to the danger of Teys Bros Beenleigh but were uninformed. For years these residents could have felt the effects of diseases from Teys Bros Beenleigh and should seek medical advice.

To the east of Teys Bros Beenleigh lies Beenleigh, full of industries, businesses and homes, all sitting in the firing line, unsuspecting that they are all in high risk of some hidden disease. Again for years all these people going about their daily lives not knowing that they are being exposed to something very dangerous or as the experts put it “at High Risk”, and should all seek medical advise.

My personal opinion is that there are more public reports referring to the 18+ kilometer range danger zone, so it is important that potential for Q-Fever should be remembered whenever you visit the doctor for issues and problems with your health.

why are you blaming them make the goverment buy back the houses ,there the ones who approved development and if there told to move on in years to come when they are forgotten teys bros will be covered in houses as if that land will sit vacant propaganda

    • You have not read the evidence, Teys are operating illegally, they operate outside their licence. They cover it up, they use their power and money to sweep it under the carpet. Logan city Council, DERM and the Qld Health are too intimidated to act. Teys have no duty of care, if you browse the site and read the evidence you will see what is right and what is wrong.

      • jeremy baxter

what a load of hog wash if you have the evidence then take it to the law other wise that would be slander

      • I have but Teys Bros Beenleigh are not the little local company that made good. They are a major corporation that spans the globe, they are 50% owned by Cargill the largest food processing company in the world. Logan City Council sit in their pocket, Qld Health bow to their demands.

        The facts are

        1. Q fever is a air borne bacterial infection. It causes flu-like symptoms such as a high temperature, muscle pain and headaches and is very dangerous; miss diagnosis is extremely common as it is often mistaken as the common flu.
In Australia Humans usually become infected by inhaling Cattle yard dust carried through the air by the wind, which can be spread up to 18 kilometers from the source.
People most at risk of getting Q fever are those whose occupation and environment brings them into close contact with livestock: Close contact can mean anything up to 18 kilometres depending on the wind.

        2. A letter from Queensland Health warn Q fever effects, can be felt up to 5 kilometres from Teys Bros Beenleigh.

        3. Teys Bros Beenleigh operational licence from the Queensland Government office of DERM dictates, Teys Bros Beenleigh must not effect anyone or anything beyond its boundaries.

In my opinion, the above points prove Teys Bros Beenleigh are in BREACH of their operational licence and operate in a dangerous and illegal manner. Queensland Governments department of DERM acknowledge their breach, the Queensland Health Department and the Logan City Council are aware of their breach and yet none have taken action to protect the public.

  2. If what you are saying is fact, I agree 100% with what you are doing, so why are there no names on your website, what are you afraid of , do you live adjacant to the complex, and are just protecting your investment. To be taken seriously, and have some balls please say who you are. You will get much more support.

    • My name is Louis Toumbas, my daughter lives in the area. I own land in the area, browse the site, read the evidence and see that I am not hiding anything. But Teys hide the fact that they operate outside their operational licence. They put the public in jeopardy without any duty of care. My name and details are on the site and my story is there as well, take time to browse and read the evidence and you will understand why I set this website up.

  3. John Mills

So obviously astroturf -you should be ashamed. Hope you are proud of what you are doing?

    • I am proud, I am standing up to a business that is operating outside of the Law. Teys are not operating within their licence and one day it will hurt innocent people.

      • jeremy baxter

so why arent they shut down

      • Big Business Big Power

Teys have been in the same location for ever and without Teys Beenleigh would have died off many many years ago. Teys should stay and the housing built around should just shut up and put up!

    • Everyone has a duty of care, Teys attitude is just like your, Shut up and put up. Never-mind they operate outside the law, never-mind they put the locals at risk because the are always in breach of their operational licence, everyone should shut up and put up. Browse the site, read the evidence and then give me a educated comment

  5. jeremy baxter

why did you move here if that was your thoughts

    • I moved here because all this was kept a big secret and out of the public knowledge.

im sure work place health and safety would have shut them down by now

    • Work place health and safety only care about what happens inside the buildings not outside.

    • Mr Hutchinson

After reading through some of the comments i have never been more ashamed to be a resident of Beenleigh. Someone tries to voice a heath concern with valid evidence and all i see are threats and dimwitted bully’s.

And i have lived here for over 26 years.

  8. Sarah

Don’t ANYONE listen to this BULLSHIT, how do u know what goes on in teys have u got a inside people telling lies to u? Well if so name then so teys can sue u which I won’t be surprised if they do

    • This website is not full of rubbish, everything posted is true and correct. All reports were done under court orders and stand as public on the records.

you have no idea what you are talking about, i have worked at teys, nothing u are saying is true, stop false crapb about it, they go through checks u wouldnt believe, neally everyday, even with AQIS, Australian Quaratine inspection serivce on site, so get f!@#ed u idiot

    • Unfortunately that’s not exactly true and if you take the time to read the evidence you would see that. Inside the doors they probably squeaky clean, but outside they are in Breach and need to clean up their act.

I have lived around hear for 27years . I did not no anything about this . If this is true , then why arnt the govt
doing somthing about it . only thing I am not happy with are the westly winds which bring the terrible smell in the air , as regards the new houses being built around , I new they would want to move after they had expreanced the smell , but you should have looked into this before you bought
    .

    • Hi Mary, I could not agree more the problem is all the different government departments have buried their heads into the sand. many people have Q fever and dont know about it and some have even had their lives ruined by it. The Logan City council should have told me before i bought there instead of keeping it a secret and telling me after i spent all my money. You will hear and see a lot more about this as time goes on.

Here are some facts for you to think on

      1. Q fever is a air borne bacterial infection. It causes flu-like symptoms such as a high temperature, muscle pain and headaches and is very dangerous; miss diagnosis is extremely common as it is often mistaken as the common flu.
